POLYMER WASTES IN ASPHALT MIXES: A WAY TO INCREASE SUSTAINABILITY OF ROADS INFRASTRUCTURES
ACTION A0: PROJECT MANAGEMENT

The objective of A0 is to ensure that the co-ordination and work between partners and the Commission proceeds smoothly and effectively, at the administrative and technical level.

ACTION A1: POLYMERS AND ASPHALT MIXES DESIGN AND CHARACTERIZATION

The objective of action A1 is to develop a number of novel sustainable and viable mixes with good environmental profiles by using polymeric waste (tyres and plastics).

ACTION A2: UPSCALING PRODUCTION PROCESS

The objectives of this action are the following:

To upscale the production process design.

To check the technical and the economical feasibility of the modified asphalt mixes production process.

To develop and implement the Pilot Plant.


ACTION A3: IMPLEMENTATION AND VALIDATION; AT REAL SCALE IN A ROAD


The main objective of this action is to prove its technical and economical feasibility by implementing the new mixes at real scale in a road.

Additionally to the technical analysis needed for the development of the production process, two
more analyses will be carried out: Life Cycle Analysis and a Future Replication Strategy of the Technology. These tasks have the objective of setting up a future plan to achieve a great implementation of the technology and to know its environmental impact.

ACTION A4: HOW TO INCLUDE “POLYMIX”  INTO GREEN PUBLIC PROCUREMENT PROCEDURES (GPP)


The objective of this action is to define the most suitable ways of introducing the validated environmental-friendly asphalt mixes with polymeric waste as specific requirements in Public Procurement processes from City Councils at national as well as European level.

ACTION A5: DISSEMINATION ACTIVITIES

Dissemination is a significant issue of POLYMIX project. An awareness and Dissemination Plan (ADP) will be prepared at the beginning of the project, and will be updated and deployed along the project life and beyond.
