RECICLAN is an innovative tool designed to optimize the use of industrial waste and by-products in the construction of asphalt pavements. It assists construction companies in reducing costs and enhancing environmental impact by offering secondary materials validated through technical and scientific criteria.
RECICLAN selects the best combinations of aggregates and alternative raw materials, comparing circularity, environmental impact, and cost, ensuring an efficient and sustainable solution. It also supports industrial suppliers by facilitating the commercialization of their waste, creating a sustainable market.
The catalogue will include materials with the highest potential for asphalt mixes, complemented with information on their properties, available flows, and possible limitations.
The aim is to assess which of the identified materials can be used in asphalt mixes and to determine the maximum percentage that can be utilized without affecting their mechanical performance.
The objective is to study the feasibility of combining available waste and by-products to maximize the replacement of natural materials, establishing maximum percentages and potential limitations.
A methodology will be developed to evaluate the cost and environmental impact of asphalt mixtures, which will be implemented in the RECICLAN tool.
The objective of the Marketplace is to promote the availability of products from regional industries by providing information on the relevant physicochemical properties for their use in asphalt mixes, as well as availability and contact information.
The RECICLAN tool selects the optimal combination of materials based on project requirements and availability in the Marketplace. It calculates costs and environmental impact according to the quantity of materials and transportation distances.
Presenting the results and the RECICLAN tool to the different agents involved (construction companies, public administration, and Cantabrian industry) is essential for the future use of the tool and the implementation of a circular economy in the participating sectors.
