PROSA PROJECT

Contributing to the digitization of the nuclear facilities

Currently, the industrial sector is showing a growing transformation with the objective to reach digitization at all levels, in all its branches. The purpose of such digitization is to contribute to the economic growth, reduce inequalities, increase productivity and take advantage of all the benefits offered by the new technologies. Such transformation, in the case of the nuclear sector, constitutes a quite ambitious goal; nevertheless, it is a sector where the benefits will be very visible, since nuclear facilities are characterized by highly complex processes, high safety requirements and many parameters to take into consideration together with a number of stakeholders involved.

In order to contribute to the digitization of the nuclear industry, the main objective of the PROSA project is to provide innovative tools that help to address two of the main aspects of this industry: the processes and safety optimization.

The project PROSA, as a result, is very well aligned with cluster 4 “Digital World, industry, space and defence”, as well as with the Digital National Plan 2025 (objectives 3 “digital competences” and 6 “digitization of companies/organizations”).

It is expected that the project PROSA actively collaborates in the modernization of the nuclear sector, where an important lack of appropriate tools for the exploitation and management of the models 3D/VR that are being developed is found, so that the results that the NPP operators expect are achieved. The development of these tools for this type of tools, which present such a number of aspects to consider, is a need to meet in order to support the willingness of the sector to digitize..

OBJECTIVES

The main technical objective of the project PROSA is the development of innovative tools for the integrated management of the planning of processes and assessment of risks in the nuclear power plants and the provision of risks in NPPs and the provision of assistance to the operator through virtual reality or augmented reality technologies (VR/AR).
